About Me – The Mama Llama

Hello and a very warm welcome to all!

Sitting in a hot tub during my much needed spa night

My name is Melissa and I’m a stay-at-home mom of 3 beautiful little girls, aged 2, 4 and 12. I also homeschool my girls so we have A LOT of quality time together which is amazing.

I call myself “The Mama Llama” because it’s what my oldest daughter calls me. I can’t help but wonder if she already knew what “Mama Llama” means but after looking it up I found it to be very fitting as to who I am as a mom. The article I found is called “15 Signs You’re Probably A Mama Llama” from scarymommy.com. If you want to see if you’re a Mama Llama too just click the link.

To be a mom is what I would consider to be the best thing in the world but also scary and confusing at times. I’m definitely not an all-knowing mom, none of us are but we all know tips and tricks that other moms don’t know and this helps us help each other.

I can’t count the times I’ve googled things to help me figure out ways to help my kids. We all do it because sometimes that confusing part of parenting comes into play. Many times that I’ve googled whatever it was that I was confused about I ended up on mom blogs and it helped me greatly.

From the author and even in the comments, so I had the bright idea that I can do it too! Maybe I have some tips and tricks for other moms and dads that could be helpful, because after all it’s not only moms who need help. My husband has done his fair share of googling for help with figuring what to do to help our kids too.

I’ve gotten a lot of help through mom blogs and I’m here to pay it forward. Sometimes it’s just nice to know you’re not alone and others are having the same problems you’re going through and that it’s OK. As long as we can keep finding ways to help each other we will be making parenting a little easier on all of us and that is my goal.

If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

All the best,

  1. Melissa,
Sorry that it’s taken me this long to get back to you with comments. As you are aware this platform takes a considerable amount of work and sometimes you get so wrapped up in a project that you can’t put it down. That’s been my case this week. My apologies!

First off, I love The Mama Llama name. I was expecting something so totally different until I read your definition. I kind of love everything about your page, the theme, the color scheme and the layout. It all just seems to come together and fit perfectly.

As for your Mama Llama blog idea itself, I think this is such a great idea to pursue. Sharing parenting tips with other Mom’s all over the world is not only educational but culturally diverse. Mom’s in other countries around the world ceratinly have different traditions based on culture that determine how they raised their children.

Not only will you come away with a get deal of tried and true tips, but think of all the wonderful things you will learn about all those women. That should be an interesting journey for you.

I wish I had the ability to have this medium at my disposal when I was raising my children. I was a single Mom, raising two on my own and working 2 jobs at the same time. Something like your blog would have been a tremendous help to me back than.

I wish you all the best! Please let me know how it’s going from time to time.

    • Hi Barbara,
No worries about the length of time it took you to get back to me, the important thing is that you did ☺️

I had no clue the name meant anything at all actually! My daughter started calling me that out of the blue one day so I looked it up and decided to adopt the name on my site since it does describe me as a mom pretty well.

Thank you for your kind words about my site, I’ve tried my best to make it the best I could for my visitors ☺️ I’m glad you brought it up, it lets me know I’m in the right direction.

You know, it actually took me about a week to figure out my niche. It hit me one day when I was doing a google search about something for my daughter. Then I knew exactly which way I wanted to go with my site and I’m glad glad I did. I can’t wait for my site to grow and get moms ideas, tips and questions from all over the world. It’s exciting ☺️

I think as moms we all need a great support system where we’re not judged, only helped. A safe place 🤗

I’m sure it would’ve been helpful but I’m also sure you did great with the means that you had. I commend you for raising children on your own while having 2 jobs. That’s not an easy task!

I will keep in touch for sure! Thank you for visiting my site and leaving such kind words, Barbara!

  2. I love the name! I suspect there are quite a few of us out there that could benefit from your site. I am now a grandma, but that is a whole new field for me. There is definitely not 1 way to raise a child and it certainly takes a whole tribe to do it. No one ever said it couldn’t be a virtual tribe. Good luck to you and your endeavor.

    • Hi Annette,

You’re right. Some people think there’s only 1 way but in the life that we live now it’s better to have a tribe of people to help. Even if it’s something as simple as “what’s the best diaper rash cream?” It’s great to be there for each other and it’s important to have support as a mom because we feel so alone sometimes. I’d love to change that for whoever needs it!

Thank you for visiting my site and also for your kind words ☺️

  3. I am not a mom. However this site is impressive for anybody looking for this information.

Also, I normally don’t like white lettering on black but you make it work.
Keep up the great work here.

    • Hi Jared,
Thank you for bringing up the black background with white lettering. I have chosen that theme because as a mom who sometimes Google’s stuff in middle of the night I find the white background to be too bright even when my brightness is all the way down.

My second reason is because the rise in cellphone technology has made more and more people do searches on their phones and a black background is much better for your battery life. I was trying to please other as much as I could when visiting my site ☺️

Thank you for visiting my site and also for your kind words!

    • Hi Sandra, thanks for stopping by. I’m glad you find my site to be helpful and I appreciate your kind words. I hope many moms find their way here too.

      All the best,
